On the Power Supply Connector Type and Function

This time I review about various connectors on the power supply PC and its functions. Power supply connector is usually a "female". But there is also a form of "male", depending on the type of equipment that requires a voltage connectors electricity. Power supply connector consists of 6 types to be connected to equipment such as motherboards, hard drives, CD-ROM, floppy disk (if any), as well as the processor.

Below is a picture of the various connectors on the power supply
Forms of power supply connector and the function is as follows:
connector 20/24 pin ATX motherboard

This connector is a connector from the power supply unit (PSU) which is connected to the motherboard, serves as the primary resource motherboard. The connector consists of 2 parts. The first section totaled 20 second pin and 4 pin section. If we use a new motherboard then the 20 and 4 pin connector on the di gabungkan.Versi ATX motherboards still use the 20 pin ATX connector. While the next motherboard already using 24 pin ATX connector as the connector of the power supply resources.

Connector 4/8 pin 12V

4-pin 12V connector (P4) and 8-pin 12V connector (EPS) are used to give special power to the processor. P4 began to be used on the motherboard for pentium 4 processors so called P4. Function of this connector is as power providers an additional 12 V for the Pentium 4 Processor. EPS connector is used for server motherboards.

6 pin PCIe connector

This connector is used to give power on some graphic card who-based PCIe which require more a lot power compared to graphics cards ordinary. Rarely are found in PC, only PC which used in the field of multimedia, especially video. The connector consists of a 6-pin, consists of 3 lines 3 +12 V and ground lines.

Connector 4 pin peripheral power connector (Molex)

This connector is used to supply power to the various hardware components contained within the computer casing. Components include hard drive, CD-ROM, fans, etc.. The connector consists of four wires. A red wire with voltage +5 V logic function is to provide power to the controller. A yellow wire with voltage +12 V to power the motor. Two black wire as ground.

Connector Floppy

This connector supplies power to serve only the floppy disk drive. The number of lanes on the connector is the same as the molex connector, as many as 4 lines with color distribution cables and large the same voltage. Just different physically, which is smaller than the floppy connector Molex connector.

SATA connector

This connector is used exclusively for that use SATA interface components, such as hard drives. This connector has 3 voltage, ie +3.3 V, +5 V, and +12 V.

That's all kinds of power supply connectors and their functions. Hopefully increase your knowledge about PC power supply. Please leave constructive comments.
